小知识：

剥去扁电缆绝缘层时，需要专门的工具和技术，而剥去单根导线绝缘层，这种工具和技术是不必要的。普通的剥去绝缘层的技术（叫做低温剥离法）可使用不同种类的工具，用几种方法来完成。

一种是导线平行的低温剥离法。两个胶木轮向相反方向旋转，从两边除去绝缘层。和导线平行的抛光作用产生摩擦，而熔化绝缘层，然后，绝缘物被抛光刷刷掉。如果磨光轮的间隔正确，绝缘层会全部被去掉，而使导线保持清洁。这种剥皮器的优点是能用来清理电缆中心部分。 

一种用刨刀片去除扁电缆绝缘层的方法。刨刀片可用电加热，当刨刀片被加热到足以熔化绝缘层时，将刨刀片压紧在扁电缆上，按图示方向拉动扁电缆，绝缘层即被刮去。剥去了绝缘层的端头可用抛光的办法或用合适的溶剂清理干净。
